The day before the official opening of the 7th 2BS Forum, an Icebreaking Panel under the title „Western Balkans between Integration and Fragmentation“ was held. This panel was moderated by Dr. Filip Ejdus, while the former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, currently Director of SEE in PwC, Prof. Dr. Igor Lukšić held a keynote speech. In his introductory remarks, he pointed out that he appreciates Dr. Kentera’s efforts and emphasized that we can together help the region by making sure to put away the day-to-day things which impede cooperation. The panelists were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Mr. Igor Crnadak, the Director of the Center for International Relations, Banja Luka, Dr. Miloš Šolaja, a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Development and International Relations in Croatia and the Head of Delegation of the National Assembly of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, Mr. Dragan Šormaz. H.E. Mr. Crnadak stated that the most important thing is to stay focused and continue with EU integration of the countries of the region. Dr. Knezović said that the region is the backyard of the EU and that it is the EU’s responsibility to revitalize the most important policy, which is the enlargement process. Mr. Šormaz pointed out that the strategic goal of Serbia is to be a part of the EU family and that neither Serbia wants to become a part of NATO, nor does NATO invite Serbia. Dr. Miloš Šolaja said that the Balkans has to show that we are a region of “reconciliation” and cooperation. After the panel was finished, a welcoming reception was held in hotel Splendid, hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanović.
