Nicholas Yap
Chief of Staff, Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab
Nicholas Yap is the Chief of Staff of the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) based in Washington DC, where he runs global operations. The DFRLab is a startup within the Council that is at the forefront of open-source research into disinformation, focusing on the intersection of governance, technology, security, and digital information environments. Having joined the DFRLab at its foundation in 2016, Nicholas has been involved in the rapid growth of the Lab’s programming since its inception. He has overseen the DFRLab’s evolution from a team of two to its current presence of 30 staff across five continents. Previously, Nicholas worked at the DC bureau of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) as well as the US Embassy in Vienna. He graduated with a BA from Colgate University in New York with a major in International Relations and minor in German. He is proficient in German.
