Rumena Filipova

Dr. Rumena Filipova is Chairperson of the Institute for Global Analytics in Bulgaria. Her main research interests focus on the politics and international relations of Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular reference to questions of media and disinformation and the authoritarian influence exercised by Russia and China in the region. 

Rumena Filipova’s new book is entitled Constructing the Limits of Europe: Identity and Foreign Policy in Poland, Bulgaria, and Russia since 1989. It examines the reasons for the differential integration of Central and East European countries into the Euro-Atlantic community after the collapse of communism, focusing on the importance of national-state identities. 

She holds a DPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford and has had an extensive experience in the think tank sector.
