Marina Pendeš

Minister of Defense, Bosnia and Herzegovina

H.E. Mrs. Marina Pendeš has held leadership positions in defense institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for more than a decade. She has been serving as the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2015, and she is a member of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to this, she has twice been the Deputy Minister of Defense for Policy and Planning, as well as for Resource Management of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Earlier, she was the Minister of Physical Planning, Restructuring and Return of the Central Bosnia Canton. In the beginning of her career as a graduate engineer at the Military Technical Faculty in Zagreb, she served as an independent constructor in the military industry in Travnik. She is a member of Croatian Democratic Community (HDZ BiH) and she is the president of the HDZ BiH women’s community “Kraljica Katarina Kosača”. She is one of the prominent activists of NATO-PfP Initiative “Women Leaders in Defense and Security”, of the implementation of the UN 1325 Resolution “Women, Peace and Security”, as well as of EPP Women projects in the European People’s Party. H.E. Mrs. Pendeš is a strong advocate and one of the leaders of the Euro-Atlantic Integration process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She attended many managerial seminars in the country and abroad. She speaks German and English. She was awarded municipal coat of arms of her hometown Vitez for her social engagement. In addition, she was also awarded for ‘National Defense’ of the First class by the Republic of Hungary.
