Borut Pahor

President of The Republic Of Slovenia 2012 - 2022

Borut Pahor, born on November 2, 1963, in Postojna, is a Slovenian politician and statesman. He graduated in political science, specializing in international relations, at the University of Ljubljana, where he received the Prešeren and Zore awards for his thesis in 1987. His political career began in 1990 as a delegate in the Slovenian Assembly. In 1992, he was elected to the National Assembly, where he worked on European, defense, and intelligence oversight committees. He became vice president of the United List of Social Democrats in 1993 and its president in 1997. Pahor later served as Speaker of the National Assembly (2000–2004) and as a Member of the European Parliament (2004–2008). In 2008, he became Slovenia’s Prime Minister, leading a coalition government until 2011. He was elected President of Slovenia in 2012 and re-elected in 2017. Known for his pro-European stance, he promotes dialogue, cooperation, and regional stability.
