Obstler: Events in the region directly affect the stability of the Alliance

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy at NATO, Rebecca Obstler, stated that NATO closely monitors events in the region, as they directly impact the stability and collective security of the Alliance.

In a video address during this year’s 2BS Forum, Obstler stated that NATO is focused on the detrimental threat to the region, which is foreign malign interference, including disinformation.

“Manipulation of disinformation can have a direct impact on the security of the Alliance and our partners. We know this is a concern for Montenegro, as well as many other allies. Hostile information attacks, of course, are not new,” emphasized Obstler.

According to her, NATO is safer because Montenegro is one of the Allies.

“Montenegro supports our collective security by deploying troops to our longest and largest mission, KFOR, which is crucial for regional stability, as well as contributing to our advisory and capacity-building mission in Iraq,” added Obstler.
