Marijana Bojanić is the CEO of TV Vijesti and Daily Press (daily newspaper and web portal), the country’s most trusted sources of news, widely recognized as the most important independent media in Montenegro. They report objectively and professionally on topics of high public interest. She also serves as the President of the Women Leaders Association of Montenegro.
In 2017, Marijana was awarded by the Montenegrin Employers Federation as the Best Woman Manager in Montenegro in the Media category. In 2020, she was named the Best Small Business Manager by the Association of Montenegrin Managers, the country’s most prestigious business award. In 2021, she received a special award for her contribution to media management.
In June 2022, she was elected to the Supervisory Board of Directors of WAN-IFRA at its General Assembly. In March 2022, Balkansmedia.org named her one of the “Heroines in Journalism.” She is also the author of the lyrics for the first anti-war song dedicated to Ukrainian children.
Marijana has been with TV Vijesti since 2008, serving first as Editor, then as Deputy Director. She began her career in 1999 as a journalist for the weekly Monitor, later becoming Editor-in-Chief of Security magazine, and a contributor to numerous Montenegrin and regional newspapers and magazines. She has also worked as a correspondent for international news networks, including London’s IWPR and AIM Paris, and collaborated with Global Integrity in 2009 as the author of the annual report on governance and corruption in Montenegro.
As an active member of the Regional Coalition, she supports the REKOM initiative, an independent commission to investigate and publicly disclose facts about war crimes in the former Yugoslavia. She has also been named an Honorable Environmental Ambassador by the BELLS coalition of regional environmental groups for her contribution to environmental protection and improvement in Montenegro.
In recognition of her leadership at Daily Vijesti and TV Vijesti for the public good, Marijana received the ISKRA Philanthropy Excellence Award in the Media category from the Montenegrin Fund for Active Citizenship (FAKT). The award acknowledged her work in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in areas such as ecology, child and youth protection, and support for vulnerable groups. Her efforts have mobilized individuals, public bodies, and private companies to act for the common good.
