Vlatko Cvrtila has finished Security Studies 1989, master studies 1992 and doctoral studies 1999 at the University of Zagreb. He was professor at Political Science Department, University of Zagreb 1999-2013. He was executive editor of „Croatian Political Science Review“ (1992-1998), vice-dean (2004-2005), dean of Political Science Department (2008-2010), University of Zagreb. He is rector of VERN University since February 2021. He was Defence Advisor to the President of Republic of Croatia (2005-2008) and National Security and Defence Advisor to the Prime Minister of Republic of Croatia (2009-2011). He was appointed member of Defence Commitee of Croatian Parliament. His field of research are Security Studies and Security Sector Governance.
